Testing the Waters

Just a question:

Would any of my readers be interested in a collection of retellings and/or parodies of classic fairy tales AND original fairy tales by A. R. Campbell/Couth Ramble?

Leave a comment here, on facebook, or twitter.

Thanks!

  1. Are you talking about something like Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? I pick those up in the Young Adult section at Barnes and Noble and secretly want to buy them. Then when a group of Twilight fans approach me, I somersault under the table like a spy.

Anyway, back to planet Earth, um, yeah, those would be really neat! I would read them!

  2. Something like that, but not really. I haven't read any of the Austen parodies, but I would probably enjoy them (since I don't like Austen--*hides in corner from the wave of questioning rebuke*). I'm not sure what they're like. Maybe more like "The Stinky Cheese Man." For example, one of my parodied fairy tales is entitled "Average-Looking Insomniac."

If I go with this project, it's not just going to be parodies. I have written at least one serious retelling of a fairy tale (which I don't like at the moment and might scrap). I've also written a handful of original fairy tales. It's a project I've had in the back of my mind for a year, and I think it might be time to work on it again.

  3. Yes write them, I know you will make them funny!
Don't scrap anything you write, you may find you can use at least part of it somewhere else in your writings.
Remember the tale you told of the animal crackers and the children? I believe there is a story somewhere in there.

  4. Thanks!!!

Some of them are already written. They need some major editing. I'm thinking of getting a collection published through my friend's company.
